MaDRas Momentum

La pongal

Darbuka Siva's Tamil folk project. Sweet guitar tunes, pretty vocals wound in poetic lyrical hooks ( a typical for most folk tunes )
A must must listen
Check out: Oru kodam (sexy reggae riff with a bit of kolaveri), Naan dhaan veeran (the bam hook ! )

http://lapongal.com/album/la-pongal

Adam and the fish-eyed poets

Sick slick tunes ! bluesy, cheesy, freezy, baritone boners
Lyrics make sense for a change and tunes
Sounds and feels much more than a home-studio project, reminiscent of a similar act by Don Bhat from the Orange street
Check out : Rat, Acid facial from Deep Loops
and
Sheepdog from Snakeism

Shakey Rays

Indie mix bag, jolly tunes with some good lyrics. Another band from the Chennai pop-rock-paper-scissor scene.
Make me smile after a long frustrating day
Check out:
Going down the floor & 8 floors high, Late night tales

The Bartender Remixes et al

Mikey McCleary

Jazzy, twinkly remixes by Mikey McCleary ,the guy who brought "Khoya khoya chand" to a full rise. Tight, hollow bassy mixes best served with dim lights and a bit daru (or boring PCR reactions and code debugging)

Also check out : Ajeeb dastan, Waqt ne kiya, Pukarta
I so wish there was a bit more of this retro mixes around accessible to public than just dhichik-dhichik trance beat remixes of oldies
They do so much more justice to the mood set by the songs in said mix,
"fazaa ki raahat na mili toh kya"

Trippy trippy trip trip

Laya Project:
The most astounding find in recent times. Ensemble of south-east Asian artists bringing together lots of sounds without falling pray to the classical "FUSION" malady. The compositions are very earthy and transport you to the land of their conception.
"Sangeet jisse mitti ki khushbu aati hai"

Bahaish Kapoor :

Composer hain ya instrumentalist hain koi idea nahi. But soundcloud pe inke gaane bade tight hain - Tinkling devices(bells ityadi) aur synth  ka bahut accha istemaal kiya hai - kaafi mahaul sa banaya gaya hai .

Check out Ecstasy, Realisation, Epic

Talvin Singh:
Gazab ka fusion karte hain yeh. Compositions with ambience and substance both- complete sounding tracks - lounge.
Check out: Machli, Hope

Adi Sharma:
Gazab gazab tabla techno, really experimenting with the instrument's soundscape like a trance-trilok-gurtu
Check out : Illusion of time, The percussion east, Rudra
